when I try to install progeny, upon partitioning, it asks me how I wanted my partitions.

I often hear people talk about that you need to mount 16MB for /boot. But there wasn't such option available. What is the boot part of progeny or debian in general (sorry, I am way too green...)

And also there is the option to turn on partition bootable flag. Now I have win98 on hda1, and that's primary and bootable. All other partition including the one I am about to install linux on are within the logical partition. I currently have boot magic as my boot manager, do I want to make the linux partition bootable? If so, which one? the 16MB one, or the one that I will mount / on?

thx

I would recomend you never use a Windows disk with Progeny.. its best to mount it later. Progeny wiped out the windows partition of the system I installed it in the first time.

Its best to use a clean disk and use all available space.

Partitioning is not all that hard...BUT..unless you have at least a moderate grasp of it you will probably screw things up...
A dedicated disc is always the safest...

The 16M boot partitiion isn't strictly nescesary. It's just a safe way to go in case your / filesystem gets screwed up.
