Hi,

Well I'm planning to buy components to a computer that will run Suse 9.1

As I'm only going to be using this for programming and internet surfing the specifications are low:

40GB HD
<2GHz
512MB RAM

Now I'm wondering if I could just buy hardware and EXPECT it to work rather than expect it not to work, having to buy specific hardware.

Thanks in Advance

Is combatibility really a problem?

No, Suse never is "combative", merely stubborn. :D

I think you can buy generic PC hardware and have it work. That said, there are two things to be careful of- SATA hard drives and Wireless cards. If these are part of your plans, I would do some looking at the Suse hardware comPatability list. Which might not be a bad idea to do so anyway.
And I've never had Suse throw a punch at my computer. :)
