i'm having a problem when trying to record a data DVD-R with K3B. i select the files i want to put into the DVD, and i press burn, select all the options i want, and when i start the burning process i get an error saying:

"Please insert a blank disk into the drive."

yet the blank DVD-R is there...trust me IT IS a blank DVD, i've tried several of them without success. if i click on the Disc Informations option i'll get a message saying: "No disc inserted"

when i run the command:

dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/dvd

this is what i get:

:-( no media mounted, exiting...

i've checked the dvd+rw tools site and my Toshiba CD-R6112 is listed as beeing supported, also K3B detects it with the correct speeds, and it lists my drive as beeing capable of recording DVD-R and DVD-RW, which is correct. so the *only* problem is that both wont detect a blank out of the box DVD-R when i insert one into the drive!

does anyone have any clue about this? i'll keep googling for this problem, but any help is appreciated...i bought my laptop for dvd burning and some other stuff, and i don't want to install XP just because i can't burn DVDs with Linux...

btw i'm using Mandrake 10 OE and K3b version 0.11.16, and the DVDs i'm using are from EMTEC 1-4x 4.7GB

What kernel are you using? There have been problems with K3B and certain Linux kernels.
