I have a new install of gentoo on my laptop. If I boot up w/o ethernet, it takes really long until it fails. How do I go about backgrounding the DHCP broadcast like in knoppix?

There's an option that it can take which tells it how long to wait before it times out. Probably -t. I'm not on my Linux box right now so I can't tell. man dhcpcd for more details. Set it to 5 seconds or something. xinsi 09-16-2004, 10:08 PM you can use a static IP attress. justlinux.com
