What flavor of linux will work with HP pavillion

I have an HP Pavilion laptop and can't load redhat I think because of compatability problems with the harddrive. Any help for this linux newbie would be appriciated.

Your not going to get much help without posting the actual model of your laptop. And why Red Hat didn't work... what kind of compatibility problems? You may want to look here:

Slackware 10 installed with absolutely no problems on my HP.

Thank you all for your help. I have successfully installed redhat9.0 on my HP laptop and I'm getting used to the feel of it and hope to be a help to others very soon. thnx again
