Thats the error I get when trying to run Americas Army install? I am on Mandrake 10.0 I just installed it and wanted to test out graphics.

What video card do you have? From what I can find it could be a DRI problem

Radeon 7200. Everything else works perfect. Much better than FC1.

Once i had a bad interperter in Mexico, it cost 5500 pesos to pay that bill!

:(

Q: What are the minimum system requirements for the Linux 1.9 Client?
A:
# Pentium3 766 (or equivalent)
# 128MB RAM
# glibc 2.1 or newer.
# Hardware accelerated OpenGL drivers (Nvidia's and XiG's are known to work)
(Last Updated: 2004-05-26)

Do you have the drivers installed? probably not with
that Radeon 7500. Try "glxgears" and see if it runs as "su".

Yay! somehow I got it to work. Don't ask me how though  . And I thought this was interesting.

[root@localhost kyle]# glxgears
4853 frames in 5.0 seconds = 970.600 FPS
5532 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1106.400 FPS
5502 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1100.400 FPS
5765 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1153.000 FPS
5771 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1154.200 FPS
5771 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1154.200 FPS
5750 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1150.000 FPS
5761 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1152.200 FPS

Thats compared to in the 500's in FC1 with exact set-up except for Version of Linux.

But now in Americas Army. I get this error.

[kyle@localhost armyops]$ ./armyops
Xlib: extension "XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD" missing on display ":0.0".

Every other thing with 3D exceleration works awesomely.

It's saying you don't have the XiG drivers installed, i don't know anyone that does since they run about $200 :D
They do claim to be faster then the XFree drivers...

Well... AA still runs like crap. Can't see anything in game. Graphics are all messed up.

Well, America's Army is a very system intensive game. It's a modified version of the UT2003 engine and the latest 2.1 release has things backported from UT2004.

The karma physics alone drag my system down (and for some reason automatic gun fire lags me badly)

the Radeon 7200 is a very old card and is underpowered for this type of game. I would really suggest an upgrade, go Nvidia! :D
BTW I have a Radeon 9000 in my laptop and it runs AA, a little slow but it works.

And considering ATI does not support 3D Accelertation on any cards older then the 9000, you are stuck with the XFree drivers...which quite frankly, suck ;)

It has to have something to do with Linux though. With the exact same setup but Windows XP, my system worked better than most. Could run Halo, AA, and a lot more. And I don't have the cash to upgrade. Guess I will have to live without AA.
