I have a prism II based pcmcia wireless card (SMC 2532W-B) that I want to use the hostap_cs drivers. They are on my laptop, but when the system boots up it automatically uses the orinoco_cs driver. I end up with an eth1 that can't monitor, instead of a wlan0 that can.
How do I tell the computer to stop using orinoco_cs, and use hostap_cs instead?

okay, I figured out how to get hostap_cs loaded, but when I modprobe hostap_cs nothing happens, and I am not connecting, when I ping the message I get is 'connect: Network is unreachable'
when I 'iwconfig' I have a Link Quality : 49/70 and it certainly looks like I am connected.
Thanks for any help,
Frank

I'd like to know about this too. I have an orinoco_cs (eth0) that can't monitor and have never had a wlan0.

Okay, I wasn't able to figure this one out, but I did figure out a workaround. I URPMI'ed wlan, and it created my wlan0. Kismet works fine now, and if I want to stop monitoring, I just 'service pcmcia restart' and I am good to go. The only downside, I have to change wlan.conf everytime I change networks, and I have to create a new file for each network that I want to attach to.
