When i was still dual booting with Windows i just downloaded the installation tree and saved it on my C drive. But somehow the installation with the boot floppy always failed. Can i just download with Mandrake 7.1 and save it somewhere on a linux partition and install it from there ?

yes.

I download iso's then use isobuster to expand them to a directory. Use the hd.img on a floppy.

when telling the install program where the source files are, don't use any / directory indicators. So if you extract into c:\drake, just say "drake" to the where is source prompt

Hey another dutch guy!

Well, the easiest way is ofcourse to download the iso (from www.linuxiso.org (http://www.linuxiso.org) -- it will redirect you to a fast mirror), pop the CDin , boot, choose for upgrade instead of install and off you go!

That would work fine unless you don't have a cd burner....
