I'm trying to get my Palm to sync with JPilot in Mandrake, but my cradle doesn't seem to be recognized. dmesg shows that my serial ports are, but after I symlinked /dev/pilot JPilot still doesn't seem to see my cradle.
The only weird thing I can see is that one of my serial ports is ttyS0 and the other is ttyS3, but I don't see why that should cause this kind of trouble. I've tried symlinking both and neither works. I've checked the BIOS settings and everything looks as it should be. I even tried catting both tty's when I push the hot sync button to see if anything was coming down them, but there was nothing. Also, even as root it won't let me make either port writable to any user. I can chmod 777 all day and all I can get is read and execute access.
I think the cradle is good because I'm pretty sure this is the one I used at home on an old Win95 computer to sync it originally. There is a chance that I'm wrong about that though, as I was given two cradles when I bought it.
