Hi folks,
I ran Xconfig on my newly installed Red Hat 7.0, and for some stupid reason I indicated that I would like to log in using the graphical interface.
I have no idea how to reverse this. Xconfig says to delete the .X0.lock file in the tmp directory, which I do, but it appears again.
If I try to force X to quit using CTRL-ALT-Backspace, the login screen appears again after a few seconds. Please, HELP ME!

Sounds like all you need to do is run xconfig again and change your selection. (been there, done that a few times myself, usually after trashing my system and reinstalling. It's a great way to gain experience). ;)

Do a forum search for "runlevel". I know that it has something to do with changing your runlevel in a certain file, but I'm not sure which.

I would edit the /etc/inittab file and change the line
id:5:initdefault:
change it to
id:3:initdefault:
Yeah I think that will do the trick.

Also if you get stuck in KDE GNOME whatever and want out, just open a terminal as root and type:
/sbin/init 3
