hi, I would like to know more about how linux can help to build a pbx system. I've read in some posting that it is possible. What kind of hardware does linux need? And most importantly, does linux really help the case? Or is it just one of the alternative?

What do I need to have a pbx system? Can linux be used as a redirector. (I don't know the word in English). What I mean is, when someone calls, the system is able to tell the user to press "1" for Sales, press "2" for Support etc. When the user has pressed, they are redirected to the proper department.

Is it possible? I'm curious about telecommunications and linux :)

HHMMMM......

I used to work for a telecommunications company ... I worked NOC for the VOIP department ..... I do not see how you could have a Linux box run as a PBX system .... It is mostly a hardware system ... you would need to plug the phones into the linux box ... But how recognize between them ? I worked on our Picasso PBX and you needed specific phones to work with our hub .... Interesting ... If you figure it out let me know .... MAILTO:Admin@Vcom.ca
