I'm using K3B, version 0.11.12-r1 and it recognizes my CD-ROM drive, but not my CD-RW drive (which IS the same drive). I checked my groups, and the user who is running K3B is in the cdrw and the cdrom group.

I can't figure it out. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

I noticed that you are running the 2.6.7r11 kernel. How close to the 2.6.8 kernel is that? Reason I ask is that the folks at K3b are warning against the 2.6.8 kernel until some issues are ironed out. I know that when I had compiled the 2.6.8 kernel and booted up with it, K3b recognized both my CD-DVD RW's as "readers" but I couldn't select anything for a writer. Read all about it on the K3b (http://www.k3b.org) site, just click on "Latest News".

Okay -- yup, I should have just looked at the K3B site myself.

BTW - For those of you using Gentoo and the Gentoo Development Kernel, this problem was fixed in 2.6.8-r3.

Thanks

Well, being a Slack user I'm hoping they get this sorted out in the 2.6.8.2 kernel release, if they stay with the 4 number kerner releases from now own.

Anyway glad you got it working.

I think the reason they have a 4 number release right now, is because they released 2.6.8, then discovered a stupid one line mistake with the NFS then released the .1 to fix it. There was a 2.6.8 release, but 2.6.8.1 came out almost immediatly afterwards.
