Hopefully this isn't an overly redundant post, but I haven't seen anything matching the problem I'm having.

I've been working on getting my printer up and running for a while now (HP 932C on Slack 10).

I've been using the 127.0.0.1:631 interface to cups, which has been OK. not great. This afternoon I finally got things to print in non-KDE apps. Then the weird stuff began.

1) It won't use the black cartridge, just the color, even if greyscale is checked. Sounds like a driver problem to me, but I'm not sure.

2) Now, when I go to 127.0.0.1:631, and try to do anything to manage the printer, it tries to access "www.print.com:631<printer info>". I have been looking around in cups files for that URL, but can't find it at all. Also, before, when I tried to configure the printer, it gave a service not available error. (I know this has been covered, but now it's not even getting that far).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

As for your first problem are you sure you're using the correct printer drivers?

Try this website for all your printing needs:

http://www.linuxprinting.org/cups-doc.html

It sounds to me like you can't get the cupsd daemon started correctly.
