Hello,
I've been running Slack 10.0 on my computer for some time. I ran into a problem that was going to take me longer to solve than to fix, so I ended up re-installing the system. X was working just fine then when I was using XFree86. Now with installing 10 (not upgrading from 9.1) I'm using Xorg. When I try startx I get a red screen, and it looks like it tries to load the screen, but only in 16 colors and maybe 100 pixes up and down.
I've checked out dmesg, and my graphics card is an Intel i820. It's odd that this was working before just fine. I've re-compiled my kernel including support for everything Intel just to make sure. I've read that people were able to load an 800x600 16 color display, but ran into problems from there. I did find this link http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20000811/linux_geforce-06.html but I'm not sure if he's saying to install the nVidia drivers for the Intel chipset, or to just put that line in /etc/modules.com I tried it without the nVidia drivers and it didn't work.
Any help on the matter would be great.
Thanks
