How can I get Linux to detect my ethernet card? I have Linux 7.1 on my hard drive, and use Gnome.

Then how do I get the Rogers @home cable modem setup?

There's almost certainly already a driver on the box, unless the card is a wierdo. Look in /etc/lib/modules/"kernel version"/kernel/drivers/net for your driver. Then, as root, do modprobe "it's name". read any error msgs. If none, do lsmod and verify that it's in there.Next say pump -i eth0. Then pump -s to see your leasing info. At that point you are on the i'net. If all this werks, cleanly, post back and we'll get this going for you automagically at boot time. Let us know how you are doing. Ray

The subject of configuring network cards with cable modems gets covered pretty regularly here. Use the Forum Search (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=search) to view the archived list of answers regarding your qustion. As your search criteria, use keywords such as @home, Ethernet, etc. To speed up your search, you might want to try the General and Networking forums first, and limit the dates searched to the past 30 days. Bear with it, the search can take awhile.

If you have a specific problem along the way, post the details of the problem and please be more precise when describing your system specs.

Ahh, come on David. Don't you want to go through the whole process of explaining it again? :D

You should have it down pat after a couple of hundred times or is your memory shot from all those late night/mornings? ;)
