Has anyone had a successfull linux system on one?
I am thinking of recommending it to a friend, but he wants linux compadibility, hopefully with suse 9.1 64 bit edition,
and I have found nothing on the subject.
Anyone have success?

I run redhat 8.0 on my e-machine set up was a breeze. I got the distro out of redhat for dummies and had not problems. Very newbie friendly, suse9.0 also installed quite easily on my e-machine.

setting up the wireless lan might take some work; but not impossible. you may have to look for something called the: ndiswrapper. (do a google search)

dvd playback might be difficult to setup also. the cd burning will work fine, though.

the ati mobility video card most likely doesn't have support. it'll work, just not to its full capability because ati refuses to make decent linux drivers.

beyond that, it should work fine.
