this is great! i am now enrolled at WSU university and i am working on a computer in ALL LINUX lab!! it's so awesome to see them taking advantage of this! i have seen a couple labs around campus here that are linux as well. i dunno what version is running right now cause its fairly well locked down and i haven't messed with it yet, but it is redhat and the other labs have redhat 9

my guss would be RH 9, just becuse of support contracts unless the in house IT staff handles support themselvs, but your right this is a good thing. Maybe you can convince IT to put gentoo onto a box;)

I just enrolled at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and the whole computer lab is dual boot between Windows 2000 and RedHat 9, with all of our C++ work being done on 100+ Sun machines through ssh and using the cc compiler. I'm so happy. :D

Don't forget to look for suid executables. And be sure to check for buffer overflows and string formatting exploits in other people's code, including the teacher's.

yeah in highschool i was a tech and i convinced them to use redhat on a couple servers. but they never let me put it on any of my computers. i had to carry around a copy of dsl for that ;), then stinking gehidore comes in and puts linux on half of them anyways :D
