I got my game server to run just fine and i'm now able to run it in my username so no more leaving it in root overnight. :)

My next issue is ram being taken up. I want to leave KDE(x) and go into a console mode so it's just text but not shut down the game server which is initiated in Shell.

I know to get back into X aka KDE, i just type "Start x" or something along those lines.

Please, if you know what i'm talking about, help me out. I must know this! :D

Thankn you

ctrl + alt + backspace will kill the xserver and take you to the console. To get x back up just run 'startx'!

If you are going to do this though makesure that you start the game server from one of the tty consoles rather than a xshell.

if you boot into init5 (booting direct into a graphical login), wont clt + alt+ backspace respawn x?

If so, you will have to go to a shell and type init 3.

OR..i choice (choose? chose?) to boot up into init 3 all the time and launch X when needed.

to do this, edit /etc/inittab and change the 5 to a 3...if you need more help let me know

Sorry - I didn't think of that as I always run init 3. ;)
