i am going to install mandrake but most of the common hardware does not have a certified sign. does this pose any problem

Give us a list of your hardware, and we'll help ;)

Generally, if hardware is listed, then it will probably work even if it is not 'certified'.

processor: P3(i think it's 550 MHz)
video card: onboard Intel 82810 Graphics controller
Network Adapter: 3COM 3C905C-TX
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster PCI128
Printer: Canon BJC-265-c

Processor: Will work

Video: The i810 video will work, but you won't be seeing any eye-dazzling whiz-bang performance out of that particular chipset.

Network card: No sweat; it uses the 3c59x driver.

Audio- Should work, but you might have to fiddle with different drivers to get it 100% right.

Printer: Don't know; never used that model.
