hi, this is probly a dumb question but i am a newbee, i got linux mandrake 9.2 on a dvd from a mag called linux handbook 2, how do i register my version of linux and do i need to?

I can't think of any reason to register your copy of Mandrake-- if there is a registration, I don't think you'd benefit any by doing it. A lot of times, distros will have paid registrations that entitle you to some commercial software, or some other types of downloads. Often times, you register and pay to support that distro.
