I'm using Gramps and I found it easy to install and use also exports tree view to open office draw. The only thing I would suggest is back up the database, I messed one up and had to restore it.

Man, this is great! I was actually in the process of doing a G4L search for a Linux replacement for Family Tree Maker and thought I'd give this forum a shot first.
Now if I could just find a program that will convert .ftw files to GEDCOM so I can import my family tree into Gramps.
Any suggestions?

The only problem is that FTM, while it says it exports to GEDCOM, it doesn't follow some standard GEDCOM formats properly. So you *might* end up with a screwy GEDCOM file. See the write up HERE (http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pointe/5802/WARTS/FTM/import-export.html).
That's probably the only way I'm going to get this to work, however, the problem is I can no loger find my old FTW CD's. Now I'm going to have to do some digging around to see if I've got them stored somewhere or if they got thrown away when I moved last year. :(.
Oh Well,
