I'm ready to try burning a cd in Linux now but I'm having a bit of trouble with this piece of software. It gives me an error saying that libtix4.1.8.0.so.1 doesn't exist. I've tried it as root as well as a normal user. I've reinstalled to no avail. Can anyone shed some light on the matter? I'm using Debian. Also can X cd-roast make an exact copy of the cd? If not, what program would rip a cd as an iso?

I use Xcdroast for copying CD's, burning iso's and just copying directories from HD to CD. Works great.
Do you have libtix4.1.8.0.so.1 installed now and you are still having problems? Reinstalling Xcdroast will not fix it if you still have a dependency problem.

That sounds like a TK library. You are probably using .96. Either try installing tk and tcl or upgrade to version .98 (it is still technically alpha but...). The newer version is gtk based.

I did a search on my entire hard drive and that file isn't there. There was another libtix file however with different numbers. I'll have to try the tcl/tk stuff when I get home.

Well I've tried reinstalling tcl and tk to no avail. I dist-upgrade often so everything should be up to date. I don't know what you mean by .96 and .98 though. Are you talking about tcl, tk, or X cd-roast? All have the newest version out today for the woody distro.

I got pretty frustrated with Xcdroast myself...I like GCOMBUST better.
The command line works even better...just a little more tricky....

The two main version of XCDRoast are .96 and .98. Go two www.xcdroast.org (http://www.xcdroast.org) and get the latest version.
