Is that error from the same time you played the video? What player are you using?
If mplayer, try it with different video options (-vo x11/gl/sdl)

Does glxinfo give you Direct Rendering: yes amoung other information?

i tried with xine, kaboolbe and kaffeine players. I do not have mplayer. I do not understand what you mean by trying different options -vo ??

That output looks good. The -vo is a video switch for mplayer, I've had to use it to get video to playback properly at times.

Run another test, this time run the video from the command line with Xine. This will spit out TONS of information.
You should be able to find a section after you stop it for the video info, and probably some errors...
Let's see what you find in that

Icarus

run it like "xine --verbose=1 filename.mpg"
That will give you output, for more details increase that number

i can finally watch movies ..

All i had to do was to choose a different plugin. I chose x11 and it worked finally. THis however only works with Mplayer. All other players dont show any images so ill stick with mplayer

thanks

I think this should go to the thread you were having that problem with ;)

That was the solution I was getting at earlier, I think Xine has an option you can use to select which video option to use also...I didn't think about it until now...

I hope I didn't mess the threads up too bad with this merge ;)
