Has anyone been able to successfully burn the Progeny 1.0 ISO's or any of the release canadate ISO's in Windows? I have had major problems, wasted over 4 cd's and I still can't get it to work. I've burned the Redhat & Mandrake ISO's flawlessly. Any help is appreciated, also I don't really want to burn them in linux, I'd prefer Windows. Thanks.

Although I have not tried this release, I have been considering it also. What I am wondering is what software are you using to burn a copy? What result are you having? Since all ISOs are the same, it would not matter what distro you are burning. :)

it must be the ISO format or something. I'm using Nero and I get "Incorrect function" after It's burned. Or when I burned it a different way I get "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". I have never recieved these error's before after burning ISO's
:(

Progeny is worth it. I was questionable about debian, but Progeny rocks. Ive been using it for 2 months and im a total newbie. Debian is not hardcore at all. YOu just need the time to dedicate to linux.

or maybe thats not what you're having trouble with? I burned it using Sony abCD... it didn't like it being called a .raw, but renaming to .iso made it happy... but my CD's came out fine... burned two copies, actually.

Progeny is hella worth it, dude. If you can't get it to work, find someone who can and give em a couple $$ for a pair of CD's

if you're on a fast connection, you can always put on regular debian potato and then apt-get progeny... there are instructions on their website here: http://www.progeny.com/download/

That way you don't have to fool around with CD burning software in windows.

I used cotfessi's advice, but I burned a copy of the 2nd beta of Progeny. You still get the slick Progeny install and the ISO's burned very well with Easy CD creator. Progeny really works well and the install was great! The apt-get upgrade when smoothly and only took 20 min.

Step by step burning an ISO with CDRWin (4.0A Beta)

1) Run Cdrwin.exe (in Administrator if NT)
2) Click the "File Backup and Tools" (its the button with the wrench and screw driver on it)
3) under "Backup/Tool Operation" select "Record an ISO9660 image file"
4) for "Image Filename" click the [...] button and find your ISO file.
5) Click start!

(note, i had Finalize/Close session and Write Postgap checked)

Extra settings: Disk type: CDROM, Track Mode: MODE1, Speed: MAX

hope this helps.
