I'm sorry, this is very off topic but I am sure someone in this community will know a bit about xboxing. What I have is an origional locked xbox harddrive from when I swapped a harddrive for a new 120gb one for my brothers friend. Problem is I forgot to get the code to unlock the harddrive for pc use. Is there any way I can format this harddrive without getting back the origional xbox it came in?
Thanks

This might help, and it might not; so don't expect it to:

...and the answer is: most likely not.

No, I am 95% sure you have to put it back in the XBOX I think the HD code is actually tied to the hardware in that one XBOX.

yeah thedreampolice thats what I thought, because I put the harddrive into another xbox and it doesnt accept it.
Is a lock on a harddrive 100% or is it possible to get in there somehow?
Guess I will have to get my brother to bring his friends xbox round some time.

If you have access to the original EEPROM with which the drive was locked (talking the original xbox motherboard here), you can read the key from the hardware and unlock the drive.
Interesting that, as putzy as drive locking is, ms is the first company who used it to screw-over their customers, and get them to accept it.
Then again, what's new?
