I'm in the process of setting up a Samba PDC (primary domain controller) on Slackware. This PDC will be used to serve 10 - 15 window xp users. I have read many tutorials, but most of them are for older versions of samba and if they are current they are based on red hat. I do know that a lot of changes have been made to samba 3. Do I need to use OpenLDAP along with samba? I have read where people have used samba, openLDAP, and DB-Berkley together. For me less is more. My main question is can samba 3 alone be used as a PDC? And does anyone have experience doing so with Slackware? Any help would be great. Thank you.

I know that samba can be used alone as a PDC. I have read what openLDAP offers as a backend. There is only one example that I have found of someone using openLDAP on slack. Others have said that slack does not support PAM. I'm mainly asking these questions for the sake of saving time. If anyone has experience with openLDAP on slack I would be interested in knowing if it works.
Thanks Again.
