First of I want to thank everyone here for their direct help and help through previous threads. It has help me learn much more than I would have on my own. I have gone through several distros and WM's (currently using SuSe 9.1, fluxbox, and openbox)
Secondly, I won a personal victory yesterday. I work in a County department in a large West Coast County. We currently run Netware 5.1 and Windows servers with Windows on all desktops (except mine). I found out yesterday that we will be migrating to Linux to replace Netware 5.1 (still staying with Novell and their utilities). I have been working towards this for over a year. Our Deputy Director of IT is going to try and get the County CIO to assist in the transition and pay for training. So here's to hoping everything goes through.
Lessons Learn and Musings:
1. RTFM
2. Read everything else.
3. Play, fiddle, and tweak.
4 Ask questions.
5. You won't get anywhere if you don't try.
Again, thanks for all of your help thus far. Everything that I have learned so far has made me that much more valuable to my department, especially considering recent announcements and I am only 1 of 2 people that know Linux around here. Speaking of which, since the County might be footing the bill on training, any recommendations on places to go? We have at least 3 other people with no Linux experience that need to go. Thanks again.
