i just tried
mount /dev/hdg1 -t ntfs /usr/local/data

and the result was
mount: fs type ntfs not supported by kernel

am i out of luck or do i need to download a patch and re-compile the kernel ?

a little searching on this very forum yields

I have only come across 1 or 2 problems I have had that was NOT covered already in these forums.
