Size 12pt has been the default font size since the dawn of computers and yet the screen resolution to monitor dimensions ratio has been increasing steadily. I was very suprised when SuSE reduced the default application font to 10. If anything, font sizes should be increased.

i had to lower my font size to 10 and it wont go any smaller
i run at 1280x1024, as resolution gets greater so does the monitor size

I like the smaller size cause it makes the screen seem bigger:D

lol you and your 15 incher lol

BTW i also run 1280x1024 and as hammer123 said, as the resolution gets bigger so does the size of the 12pt font. i try to use smaller but 8pt seems to run together too much.

i always thought everyone customized this depending on their resolution. monitor size, and eyesight.

Yeah, well.....I've always used 10 (print and screen) but my eyes are at the point where they are trying to convince me that something larger is in order.

I usually use size 8-10. 12 is just too big now a days, takes up too much space. The only exception is when I am typing a school type paper where they require you to use a certain font/size.

I have a laptop with a 12.1" LCD that can only handle 1024x768. I like using 12pt font for word processing a fixed width font at 10pt for my terminals.

Most editors have a zoom feature that help fix this. I know ms word does, and I'm pretty sure abiword does as well.

Actually, 14.1 inches in my case :) For the moment it's 17 though because I've got my new LCD hooked up to my laptop, but that's headed for my new computer once I get it built.
