Hello,

Okay, I have this really weird sound problem.

When I play mp3's in XMMS as root, everything is fine.

But if I log in as any other user and try to play mp3s with XMMS, I get this weird echo sound. I am soo clueless as to why it is doing this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much.

By the way, I am running a Debian (potatoe) system. Thanks again. :)

chmod 666 /dev/dsp
chmod 666 /dev/mixer

Run both of these commands as root. The user's sound should now work.

Hmm, the chmod didn't work. :(

Any other suggestions?

You know what? I did not finish reading your post. I just assumed that it said that the user didn't have any sound at all. I apologize. I don't know about the echo sounds outside of playing with your mixer. Can you hear the lyrics in the songs?

Yup, I can hear the song fine, except it echos. It's really strange...

I am assuming it's some kind of permission thing, though I could be (and probably am) wrong.

Just for some info I have an Ensonique AudioPCI...

Thanks for helping though.
