hello,
I have 4 desktops setup using KDE, all with different backgrounds.
When I change from one desktop to another, it takes about 3-5 seconds for the backgorund image to change.
My question is, can I speed this up some??
any help would be appreciated...

- What format are the images in? You can use ImageMagick to covert between file types.
ex.
$ convert wallpaper.png wallpaper.jpeg
$ convert wallpaper.png wallpaper.gif
Then use the command ls -s to compare the file sizes.
- Does the wallpaper have the same dimensions as your screen resolution?
ex.
$ convert -size 800x600 wallpaper.png wallpaper2.png

well i figured it out......
right click on the desktop
select background-advanced options
i increased the size of the background cache
from 2096 KB to 8192KB....
and the desktop backgrounds snap in much, much quicker...
life is good again....
