Trying to install mandrake 7.0 linux4win on laptop. I have a PCMCIA CD-Rom that it won't recognize. Is there any way I can copy the install disk to the hard drive and install that way. If so, how?

I'm not sure about that particular flavor of Mandrake, but the standalone versions allow you to install from different sources (ftp://ftp.stealth.net/pub/mirrors/ftp.mandrake.com/Mandrake/8.1/i586/images/README), including the hard disk.

A closer look around Mandrake's support site would probably yield a definitive answer.

I'm kind of fragmented on my memory here but I think when you do an install starting from a boot and root image that you can tell it recognize pcmcia. I'm not sure if this would actually fully solve the problem, meaning that you would be able to access the drive. You may want to look into that.

Thanks guys. I'm still having problems. I made a PCMCIA image disk, but the lin4win is still a no go. It will boot from that image to do a regular install, but when lin4win reboots (form windows) it asks for the PCMCIA image. I put the floppy in and click OK, it copies the files, then takes me back to the "Do you have a PCMCIA device needed for install?"
Can't do it from the hard drive either, it tells me that the resource is busy and it can't mount it.
Did put Mandrake 8.0 on the tower yesterday though, the smoothest install I've ever done.
