I have no idea how to configue my LAN in Linux. I'm used to windows networking wizard, so I'm totally lost here. Can someone tell me how to give the PC a name and stuff? I already have a network setup with Windows boxes, I just need to integrate this one. I need to connect to a system named C47047-a, my system should be called NICK and the work group should be MSHome. I know that the system recognizes the NIC. I guess I just need to tell the system that it's on a network, but I don't know how. Any help would be much appreciated.

if you are looking to allow windows users the ablity to get to your files u will need to install SAMBA. There is complexity to this program because it is pretty much designed to do any kind of file sharing on any winx OS. I have a 1300pg book on this package. It takes some tweaking and is a far cry from your file sharing wizards but like linux it is rock solid and will run better than windows could with its own protocols.

There are alot of posts to check out about how to install/run samba so run a search and also check out linuxdocs.org (http://www.linuxdocs.org/HOWTOs/)
in there u will find a how-to on samba
