What do you have entered in your /etc/resolv.conf ?
Why isn't ppp0 not showing in your "ifconfig"?

nameserver 192.168.0.1

that,s it also did ifup eth0
here is the results [root@192 rob]# ifup eth0
Determining IP information for eth0...External network device sit0 is not ready. Aborting..

Post output from the command ifconfig -a You should also have a secondary nameserver in your /etc/resolv.conf...talk to your ISP for that info.

Go to this page and choose one of the contact options and ask them just what I referenced about Nameserver addresses.

Well contact your ISP and try to find those before we continue. That aspect needs to be eliminated as a cause.
