A need has arisen for me to allow Macintosh clients to print using our Linux server, just as the Windows clients are doing now.

Everything worked fine with lpr until the Macintosh client sent a file containing binary data. Forcing the Macintosh client to send ASCII data only has fixed the problem temporarily, but the Macintosh users don't want to send their images as ASCII (too much work I guess).

What I am looking for is a new printer daemon (?) that will handle binary data and will allow me to setup a single printer and have both the Macintosh clients and Windows clients use the printer.

The Macintosh clients use a mix of Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Photoshop, and MS Office. The Windows Client use Adobe Acrobat Reader and MS Office.

Which would you recommend as the best choice for my situation (CUPS, LPRng, or LPR)? Or, is there another option that would be better?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
