LFS experience?

Anybody here with some LFS experience...
I am gearing up to do that thing...
any advice?
Which distro did you use as a base?
Which would you suggest?

Well, the first time i compiled LFS i used slackware linux as base...another time it was LFS system.My advice to you, take your time,read a lot be patient and enjoy!.

I started my LFS install on a Mandrake 7.0 base, and it turns out that LFS works much better than Mandrake ever did.

Good help in LFS irc & mailing lists, pasting commands into a text editor & making wrapped lines one long line before pasting to xterm solved some probs, "export TERM=XTERM" before you compile the kernel. I used Peanut (http://ibiblio.org/peanut) as the base distro.
