Hello,

I'm using Fedora Core 2, every time I close the laptop lid it simply stops whatever it's doing and waits for me to open the lid again. When the lid is closed I want it to continue working on whatever I've set it to, this is more of a house desktop computer. The real problem is that 50% of the time if you close the lid even for a second the laptop freezes and has to be hard reset :(

I just want this computer to carry on regardless but can't find the settings.

Any help please...

Have you checked the BIOS settings/options?

Try using ACPI, it may work more how you want
Add acpi=on to the end of the kernel line in your /boot/grub/grub.conf and see if that helps

I just broke the little tab off the lid of my laptop. :D

I would but mine doesn't have a button to detect the lid closing, I'm still holding out for a software solution. I'm wondering if it could be a kernel thing?

I've solved the crashing bit anywho, I disabled the ACPI service and it now doesn't crash when the lid is closed.
