Hey ther LINUX peeps...
I've been a PC user for the lasat few years and all I know about is doodly squat!! I've rather engrossed in mobile tech lately and find that alot of mobile developers use LINUX or linux based stuff (mind the language hehehe) as their programming language (PERL, JAVA, C++ etc).
How does one start off learning about Linux programming. I'm running a full time job and wish to learn during the few free hours I have. Can any1 help out? I'm open to suggestions.

You want to learn Programming in Linux or just Linux itself?
For programming, there are countless forms you can learn and well over a dozen languages. most common is C++ and Java (lots of Python, Perl and PHP also) and I prefer the book method. Stop at a bookstore and pick up a book and start learning (Most bookstores have a Linux section). If you have previous knowledge it will be easier to learn but it's not nessesary

For learn how to use Linux, install it, tweak it, break it and fix it...best way to learn

Yes, just install Debian - for the most programming orientated thing - perhaps via Knoppix?? But all other distributions will have more programming languages and stuff bundled in than most have had dinners.

Thanx for the reply guys. Well, I'm keen on the language programming but if I can learn about linux the OS, that would be an added plus. I will look books on linux and will need you guys to help me understand most of the stuff. Here goes nothin... If I can do this, you can say that you've turned a cave man into a Johnny Pneumonic.
