Hello,

I would like to be able to telnet or FTP into my debian box from school. How would I go about doing this? Thanks.

Telnet should be enabled by default. Just open up a telnet session and put in your ip address or www.yourdomain.com, (http://www.yourdomain.com,) and it should work.

But for ftp, try installing "proftpd", it is easy to install and setup.

Don't use telnet. Install SSH instead. You can find it at www.freshmeat.net (http://www.freshmeat.net) Telnet is insecure, especially if you're thinking about telnetting from your school to home. Who knows how many sniffers could be running on it and collecting passwords. SSH will encrypt your sessions making it useless for sniffers.

I agree with X_console, SSH is much better.
