howto change pathname of a certain command

Hello, I just installed netscape6 and I was wondering if anyone knew how I can I change the path name for the command "netscape."
I was also wondering on howto make a shortcut on the desktop in gnome.

can you even make shorcuts on the gnome desktop? I sure wasnt able to figure out how.
