It's a good feeling ain't it! hard candy 06-19-2004, 10:52 PM Woot- Stems from 80's hacker lingo. When a hacker 'rooted' (got root access to) a 'box' (a computer hooked up to the internet) he would exclaim "woot. (I have root.)" Later use spread to the hacker's lesser brethren, the gamer, and most hackers no longer use the term. :D blackhawk714 06-20-2004, 01:48 AM Yeah well, I just installed the 2.6.7 kernel myself and I have to say it's not all that different. I find things to run just SLIGHTLY slower, but I figure it will get better as it goes along. I am getting accelrated ATI drivers and the right ethernet speed and card driver so that's a relief. It works ok. Hate to be a buzz kill here. lol :D ;) nerrollus 06-20-2004, 03:50 AM I'm just happy to finally have it installed, and installed correctly. ;) I can actually tell a pretty big difference in the speed since I went from 2.4.22 to 2.6.7, but it's probably because I setup the Kernel to fit my system a little better than the generic. justlinux.com
