Hello .. I'm running RH7.1 Seawolf Server install Max security and I've installed Licq (most recent) and I can register my UIN but when I try and Go ONLINE i watch my Network Window and it shows WRN: connection timed out 1xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:4000 UDP Is there other default ports ? I checked my firewall Chain and I have no rules in place yet ... Soemone ? Somewhere ? similar problem/solution ? Thanx for your time ....

maybe it's installed both ipchains and iptables and one is blocking it. I'm sure it has something to do with your networking setup, maybe rmmod all that junk and see if it fixes it.

Oh, I think I can actually answer this one :-)

Ipchains/ipmasqadm need to have a module or something loaded for certain things to bypass a firewall (irc, icq, ftp etc.)

Here's a basic redhat firewall script that has the necessary lines in it: http://www.redhat.com/support/resources/tips/firewall/firewallss.txt

I think its the area after the CIPE config that you'd need to look at.

Hope this helps. ;)

Thanks boys ,

I had to explicitly allow eth0 to use udp port 4000 in my firewall config ... I used KDE firewall config to set it and it worked like a dream .... Thanks again for your help guyz....... :D
