hi,

my background is mostly windows, mostly linux newbie

problem: installed linux, seems correct, but won't connect to net

os: fedora core2
box: pentium II-300 128Mg Mem

the install went fine, but it won't see the internet

with browser it says www.whatever.com can't be found

I use a static ip, I've done this with redhat 9 with no problems, do this with windows all the time, no problem

what I need is some step by step trouble shooting assistance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

what network card are you using? did you try and pinging any network servers (if you're on a network) try this (in a terminal):

ping (network ip address)

and see what it's responce is. also, try this command:

lsmod

and give us the output of lsmod.
