I am runing Red Hat Linux 7.3 with KDE desktop, every so often I get an error message "The application KDE Panel (kicker) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV)", this is usually followed by the shut down of the computer, since this computer is part of a cluster, it takes everythingwith it , can anyone please help ?

Do you have any 'kde addons' installed? I'm probabaly wrong but those might cause it. Also try following the link in this thread:

Good luck!

Are you able to either update the OS (Red Hat 7.3 is rather old) or KDE, seems like its something wrong with the version of KDE you have.

Signal 11 Errors (http://www.bitwizard.nl/sig11/) of which some can be caused by bad memory.

I am stuck with Redhat 7.3 until I finish my research, the application I am using was compiled for 7.3, so I can't change to another OS, is it possible to install the newer KDE ?

Sure it is. You might be able to find KDE/Redhat related sites that still have newer rpm packages available for RH7.3.

Did you checkout those Signal 11 errors? We've had members that found they did indeed have bad memory. Linux is not as forgiving as Windows when it comes to iffy memory.
