Well, I wasn't Impressed with Corel's half-assed attempt to put out WP2K. The Winblows version is one of only 2 reasons why I keep my backup machine with Win95. I mean WordPerfect 8 was written for linux as opposed to WP2K ported under WINE. How lazy.
Anyway. Since Corel sold off their Linux division to Xandros, the link to WP8 in Linux.com redirects to Xandros (which doesn't have any products available yet) Caldera used to have an rpm, but since they went for pay on their distro, their old versions are unaccessible (unless someone can find a link). And Even Corel's site, you can't find anything aside from old printer drivers for their older (Dos) versions of WP. I have the Maximum Linux cd (#2) that had WP8 on it (that mag rocked :D ) But since that mag was yanked those cd's are not available any more. So my question is does anyone have any links to good ole WP8? Now I don't want this to get into a flame war about WP against ABI or SO. I used WP and SO5.2 both and love both. But I still have the need to keep my WP8. QUestion is what about those that we bring into the fold that want to have a usable Word Perfect. Are they SOL. And what about offering people to burn copies of my Maximum Linux cd with WP8 on it along with my caldera rpm (that I downloaded before it disappeared)?

Since when do you have to pay for Caldera?

I've downloaded the iso's for Workstation and Server 3.1 and also have Workstation 3.1.1 Beta. Even the contribution CD is available from their site which includes lots of stuff including Gnome.

You won't get all the commercial packages with the download as you would for the retail package, but mine works just fine.

One of their regional managers called me a few weeks ago to discuss a few details on their upcoming release and also offered to send me a complementary retail package. About the 10th call I've had from Caldera. Have you had many calls from Mandrake/Redhat?

OK granted, I was only going by the slashdot info on Caldera. But I remember being able to go to an ftp site and checking out the entire Caldera distro for 2.4 (I think that was the version) Anyway. I found the rpm for WP8 easy. But now all they have is an iso, not individual packages. Granted the base version is free to download to get the full version you have to buy it. Even Mandrake, you can go to the ftp site and check out the packages available, not just the base system. Anyway. Point I was making was that you used to be able to find WP there and no longer. It'll be a big loss if we lose this package.

I hadn't realized the individual packages for eDesktop 2.4 were not available for download anymore. I'll try to have a look around and see if I can find them.
