Found this on the Italian Slackware site. It is a DVD::rip Megapack (dated 4/04), includes the players-mplayer and xine, the codecs-all that are needed, and the DVD::Rip program with all the dependencies included. A 20MB download.

(I had the Google translater on, so if you have trouble getting on the site, go to www.slacky.it and click on downloads , new slackware packages, then page 2, andlook for DVD::Rip Megapack(everything is in Italian so turn on the translator). The swaret repository is "REPOS_ROOT=Slacky.it%http://www.slacky.it/download".
Once you get it downloaded, use the ark or fileroller program to uncompress it or run "bunzip2 dvdrip-megapack.tar.bz2". Then go (cd) to the directory and run "upgradepkg *.tgz"
This is the list of the packages:
a52dec-0.7.4-i486-1sl.tgz
fping-2.4b2_to-i486-1.tgz
Gtk-Perl-0.7008-i486-2.tgz
blades-3.95.1-i486-1.tgz
libcdio-0.67-i486-1sl.tgz
libdvdcss-1.2.8-i486-1.tgz
libdvdread-0.9.4-i486-1.tgz
mjpegtools-1.6.2-i486-1.tgz
MPlayer-1.0pre3try2-i486-1sl.tgz
ogmtools-1.4-i486-1sl.tgz
rarlinux-2.71-noarch-1.tgz

xvid4conf-1.12-i486-1sl.tgz
xvidcore-1.0.0.rc4-i486-2sl.tgz
And remember, when you open a menu in a desktop, it may have two entries for ,say, mplayer. If one doesn't work try the other.
To add mplayer if you need to, use /usr/bin/gmplayer, not /usr/bin/mplayer. The first gives you a graphical interface. The second is for commandline only.
And if you don't have Slackware, you can install them individually. See why they call it Slack -ware ?
Ciao, baby.
