OK, first off, I'm fairly ignorant, so if you can and decide to help, please speak relatively plainly (I'm not 100% stupid though). I'm having problems with my ethernet. 1)it's not a card (it's built in to the mother board), B)I don't know what it is (I've been to the site, the closest is that it uses an SiS900 driver under Winblows), and that makes it hard to find and search for. Linux won't even see it. When I run ifconfig, I get nothing under eth0, only lo. Everywhere I've looked deals with ethernet cards. If you need any new info, just ask. Thanks in advance.

There is a sis900 ethernet driver for Linux. Most likely you will need to recompile your kernel with this driver included. There should be an NHF about kernel compiling. Once this is done, you should see your card in the output of dmesg.

OK... it was in my kernel, done as an alias in the modules.conf file, but aparently it's having conflicts (it says the device is busy, /lib/modules/2.2.13-22/net/sis900.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.13-22/net/sis900 failed when I run... oh I can't remember the name of it, some probe). I got the I/O and IRQ from Windoze and put that in the modules.conf file, but the sis900 still doesn't show up for ls modules. Any ideas? Remember, I might sound like I know what I'm talkin' about, but I don't, really, so be simple (as possible). Thanks

No offense man but if it is integrated on your board you are screwed ... If there is an IRQ conflict the only way I have found to solve those is to move the card (You cant) /... Go buy a 10$ used NIC card and plug it into your box and see if that worx ... It will save a LOT of headache ........
