3d performance and Modem in a Acer Aspire 1353XC --- how to???

Hi to all.
I have a problem with my Acer Aspire 1353XC notebook.
Technical info:
S3 Savage KN133
Agere 56k V.90/V.92 fax/data Modem
XFree86 Version 4.3.0
Kernel 2.4.22
Slackware 9.1

Problems:
X is not accelerated.
Modem is not working.

Is anyone else into these problems?

PS How can I scan whether an internal modem is a hardware one or a winmodem?
