hi all!

i have a inspiron 8500 and i would like to disable the terminal bell.

so far the only solution i found was to compile the system speaker function as a module then disable it that way. is there another way?

on gnome terminal goto edit->current profile under the general file uncheck terminal bell.

If you use alsa the terminal bell doesn't sound for 2.4 kernels... at least it didn't on my i8500

thanks for the reply!

im using rxvt and i found the command line option to do the same thing ( -vb ).

i guess i have to go each individual app's man page then find the visual bell option. i really don't want to kill the speaker.

thanks again!!

I'm using 2.6 now... but yeah, on 2.4 my speaker was on and I could play cd's and stuff from the cli but I didn't have a terminal bell... I must have turned it off in my shell or something then... it's been awhile (for my memory anyways) since I've used 2.4 :)
