All,

I have one of these chipsets in my Sony PCG-F350. This chipset has 2.5MB of Video ram, At One point I had 1024x768 with 24 bit color. Now I can not get any thing bettter than 15 or 16 bit Color. I have been playing with the config files but have gotten no where. I am running XFree86 version 4.1.0. I have thought about upgrading to 4.4.0 but am not sure it will work.

Any help would be useful.

I had the same "card" in quite a few Dell laptops - they were "hard coded" to only do 1024x768x16bpp . Worked great though...

I should be able to get 800x600x24bpp, Right. What is funny is that is doesn't work like that either.

With the same distro and X version? Did you keep a copy of that working X config?

I couldn't find much at all on the Sony PCG-F350 besides

4.1.0:

Support (accelerated) for the NeoMagic NM2070, NM2090, NM2093, NM2097, NM2160, NM2200, NM2230, NM2360 and NM2380 chipsets is provided by the "neomagic" driver.

No, I had a semi major system crash. I had nothing better to do so I reformatted and resintalled. But yes, Same Distro and X version. I've since went from version 4.1.0 to 4.4.0 to try to solve the problem

I was looking at that and People say that they have had it go to 24 bpp in 800x600 but I can only get 16bpp in that mode also
